A Day in the Life

We’re approaching the 5 month mark and can’t believe how the year is flying by. Having fun and soaking up as many experiences as we can grab, we’re so incredibly happy. We’ve traveled to 6 different countries so far and already have a long list of things we want to do “next time” we visit.

happy.

Are you wondering how we still have things we want to do even when we spend an full month in each place? We’re working! I wasn’t kidding when I said we were going to be working full time.

We couldn’t travel like this without being dedicated (and employed!) About once a week we have one of those days where we work 12 hours and don’t leave the apartment, but it still feels special. We’re not so jaded that we’ve become unaware of how great we’re living these days. The flexibility is nice in that we can swap a weekend day for a weekday if the weather favors such a switch. Since we’re currently 6 hours ahead, we actually prefer going out in the morning, coming back home for lunch, then working until bedtime. Working a minimum of 40-hours/week is something we knew was going to be part of the trip. That being said, weekends are REALLY nice.

Since we are staying in “homes” with kitchens we try to cook as much as possible. On weekdays we try to have all 3 meals at home, but weekends it is usually just breakfast. It saves money and makes us think we’re keeping an eye on our diets.

salads for dinner!

Truth is, there are many kinds of cheese in this world and we’d like to give them all a fair try. Diets can wait.

CHEESES, meats, and bubbly have been dinner more times than I should admit. (more than once at this restaurant even) 🙂

Wondering how we’re doing with our minimal luggage? It’s going great. Really great. Although we don’t have much, we also aren’t missing anything. Whenever we see people dragging wheelie suitcases across cobblestones we are so thankful to have our backpack and tote bag combo luggage. Packing for each move is an effort, we seriously roll each individual sock, but it’s well worth it.

Throwback to our take-off in Dec 2016 out of NYC. *my coat folds up flat into my backpack and my purse fits in my tote. Kev’s coat was an oldie, so he just tossed it once we got to the airport.

Both bags are technically carry-on size and many international flights allow each person to carry two. Unfortunately, we have had to check one bag for several flights because some low-cost airlines like Ryanair and Easyjet only allow one-carry on bag. It’s not a major issue, it just makes our two-carry-on accomplishment feel a little less victorious.

Did I mention that we are really happy?

*I’d also like to say sorry for being so behind in the blog. Priorities in order are work, then going outside, then writing a new blog post. I’m sure you understand and I will keep working on catching up!
